- Hello,
-
- I have an old SMART ONE (BEST DATA Products) 2400X modem which I'm
- trying to use with an old Gateway 386 PC. I recently formatted the drive
- on the PC and loaded MS Windows for Workgroups 3.11. I attached the
- modem to the COM2 port, loaded a Kermit appliclation to test the modem,
- and it doesn't work. I get no error messages.
-
- I'm confident the COM2 port settings are correct and that the modem
- works because I tested the modem on my other PC running Win95 and also
- copied the settings from the Win95 environment. The file comm.drv (the
- driver used by the modem) is on the 386 PC in the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM
- directory.
-
- Am I missing something elementary - an entry in the config.sys or
- autoexec.bat file, perhaps? If you have any advice, please e-mail me
- directly. Thanks.
